Ride some of the most iconic cycling routes in southern Europe on this self-guided, single-center road bike tour in the Costa Blanca. Based near Fonts de l’Algar, you’ll cycle daily on quiet mountain roads through Mediterranean valleys and along legendary climbs such as Coll de Rates, with flexible route options to adapt distance and elevation each day.
We’ve carefully selected places where you can immerse yourself in local culture and history, discover religious and secular festivities, explore traditional crafts, music and customs, and experience everyday life in small rural communities. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a rich diversity of landscapes and, above all, connect with the local people who make this journey a truly memorable experience.
The route flows through scenic valleys, mountain foothills, vineyards and fertile plains, offering a perfect balance between cycling challenge and cultural discovery. You’ll ride through traditional villages, enjoy outstanding viewpoints, and savour authentic local cuisine and regional products, making each day rewarding both on and off the bike.
Starting directly from your accommodation, the tour combines coastal scenery, inland climbs, smooth asphalt and peaceful roads, making it ideal for recreational cyclists as well as riders seeking a training-oriented cycling holiday. Day 1 – Arrival in Fonts de l’Algar
Arrival in Fonts de l’Algar, near Callosa d’en Sarrià. Welcome meeting and time to settle in. Optional walk around the waterfalls and natural pools of the Algar River.
Day 2 – Fonts de l’Algar circular
62 km (+1,442 m) or 79 km (+1,946 m)
Mountain loop through the Marina Alta, linking Bolulla, Tàrbena and Castell de Castells, with steady climbs and panoramic inland views.
Day 3 – Guadalest reservoir out & back
43 km (+916 m) or 62 km (+1,794 m)
Ride through orchards and quiet valley roads to the turquoise Guadalest reservoir and the village of Beniardà, returning along the scenic lakeside road.
Day 4 – Calpe, Jalon Valley & Coll de Rates
68 km (+1,311 m) or 88 km (+1,789 m)
Coastal riding near Calpe, inland vineyards in the Jalon Valley and the classic ascent of Coll de Rates, followed by flowing descents through traditional mountain villages.
Day 5 – Altea and inland valleys
55 km (+1,220 m) or 68 km (+1,618 m)
From Altea’s seafront, ride inland through Polop and Callosa d’en Sarrià, climbing quiet country roads with views over the Guadalest Valley before looping back.
Day 6 – Coastal to inland loop
44 km (+857 m) or 77 km (+1,933 m)
Shorter coastal-to-inland loop via Altea, l’Alfàs del Pi, La Nucía, Polop and Xirles, combining sea views, rolling terrain and gentle climbs.
Day 7 – Departure
After breakfast, end of the tour. Transfer back to Alicante Airport or optional extra nights.

How to get to Biar (starting point)
We recommend a private taxi transfer from Alicante-Elche Airport (40 minutes).
